Hey folks, well, here are some more pics i'd like to share with everybody! It's really getting there slowly, here's what it looks like without some equipment!

Glued the back of the headstock with some wenge veneer

made a carrier board(good words?) to help me make my fretbord on my table saw but those thingies will be gone in the next pics, they were always getting stuck in the mitre sleds or slots? Thanks for Sylvan Wells for the great idea!

Made myself a template for the fret slots, thanks to Todd Stock and Bruce Dickey for that, it was acurate and easier to do that way!

Here's how the carrier board worked better for me.

Here's the fretboard completed!

Thanks for your input everyone, i really appreciate all your help!

Serge

Moving right along ,eh Serge? I like how you slotted your fretboard.I'm still using the old Stew mac jig for that. And lots of elbow grease! Got to get me a table saw and slotting blade! Lookin' Good! DaveAndy38894.3624884259

Thanks Todd, yes, i kept a file of Terry's jig also and bought myself a mini drum sander that will either go in my drill press or the hand drill, i really look forward to shape that neck the right way this time! Could you show us a pic of your jig also Todd?

Thanks Dave, yes indeed, it was easier than i thought it would be, Thanks to Shane for that great blade and for the blade stiffners from Lee Valley which help prevent any wobbling(sp?) of the blade. You don't really need a huge table saw for lutherie, just a small contractor saw will do, of course, i'd have a bigger one if i could afford it though!

Looking good Serge. Will you bolt on the neck ala Cumpiano or glue it? Will you finish the neck and body seperately? Will you use a truss rod?Tomas38894.40625

Hi Thomas, Thanks!

Yes, i will use bolts and inserts a la Cumpiano and also a truss rod, i bougth the stuff from Shane Neifer who is a sponsor here. The neck and body will be finished separately, probably true oil for the neck and french polish for the body. It's hard to see in the first pic but i already did the truss rod channel, here's a better pic!

Hi Mike, Thanks for the kind words also bud!

Serge - It's looking great; hope you don't mind a compliment from a Hurricanes fan - although as one writer to our local paper here in Raleigh pointed out, all it proved was that our Canadians beat their Canadians.

                       Peace, Paul

Thanks for sharing the pic and the explanations Todd, as usual, your input is truly appreciated!

Thanks Paul, i truly appreciate it no matter if you won our Stanley cup or not, your team was better prepared for the last game and deserved to win my friend! Hourray for the Hurricanes! Hoping it will bring more fans in your arena next year though!

Thanks Hesh, i'm working hard and slow at the same time, last night i made a jig a la Kmatsu to help me taper the fretboard(will have pics tonight) and tapered it, a few more jigs and steps and i'm done! it is really encouraging!

Hey hey Rossy, where ya been bro>?? I've wondering that question for the last month or 2 now, how's that build of yours coming along? Thanks for the encouragement too!

I know what you mean Todd, the only reason i'm not putting more naphta or liquid shellac on it is the sanding that'll come afterwards!
At this stage on my #1, I was slopping naptha on the guitar every few minutes to remind myself how cool it was gonna look under finish...try to control yourself, Serge.
That is so true!!! I kept putting on shellac, and sanding, and then more shellac, and then more sanding... Suffice it to say that I had to replace a rosette ring completely and then I had to repair a hole in the rosette, and my back-strip    Ah, ... I should have a sign that reads 'Moonstruck Newbie at Work!'...

Looking very good my friend. That is going to be one fine looking gitter! Now, string her up already!!!
